Review - Sake

Hello from a very wet Sydney! A few days of rain as left this usually fine city a little soggy so it is fitting that I have a Friday night at home with a dvd and some popcorn!

This week I was fortunate enough to dine at Sake (recently featured on Master Chef). It is located on Argyle St The Rocks, just down from our church. After a few weeks of walking past and wishing I could try it out, an opportunity came up when I had to pick the location for a dinner for my team at work. I was super excited about trying it out! I have to say that this was one of the best meals I have ever had.

The butterfish lettuce cups in miso sauce are divine and their beef teriyaki is to die for! While sashimi is not usually my thing it was beautiful and fresh.

The décor is very sleek and stylish with low lighting and a large open kitchen. The bathrooms were strangle dark however an establishment like this can pull it off.

I was amazed at how busy it was for a Wednesday night so be sure to book well in advance.

I would highly recommend you try it out if you are after some beautiful Japanese cusine.

Tomorrow I will be sharing my Double Chocolate Stout cupcakes so be sure to check back!

Winners are grinners

A number of weeks ago at an all office lawn bowls competition I was over the moon to have won a meat tray in the raffle. Not usually one to win anything this really made my day and I truly enjoyed cooking up my winnings for dinner that night. A couple of weeks ago I won a Twix through their 1 in 6 wins promotion. I was pretty happy with this also and thought I had been having a good run. It wasn't until these were shadowed last week when Luke won an all expenses paid trip for 2 to Mauritius which we plan to take early next year. We are both totally shocked to win such an awesome prize which lightened what had been a fairly glum week.

I was sharing my exciting news with a few of my work mates and 2 of the 4 people I had spoken to had both won trips to the USA. I was always of the opinion that no one actually won these prizes - they are there to make a product more appealing but a bit of a fairy tale.

So, what have you won? Have you, like me been thrilled by a meat tray? Or have you won the major prize like a car or a Boys Town house?

It's been a while...

Firstly, apologies for taking so long to put up a post. Luke and I have had a crazy week which saw us flying down to Melbourne for a few days.

While in Melbourne I took some time out to go shopping with my sister and found some truly Melbourne gems.

But, we can't all spend time trawling the streets of Melbourne for those unique finds so I thought I would share with you a site that I LOVE - ETSY! Etsy is a one stop shop for all things hand made and customised designs. With sellers literally from all over the world you are sure to find something special. All sellers use pay pall so purchases are secure.

check it out! www.etsy.com

Crafty!

I thought I would take a moment to brag here (because the whole idea of this blog isn’t self indulgent enough!). I was recently invited to my gorgeous cousin Julie’s baby shower. I knew instantly what I wanted to get her and set off to buy the bits and pieces. The picture above is the result!

It is made from half a bag of infant sized nappies, two tiiiiny singlets, two wrist rattles, a baby towel and a satin covered gift box. It was super easy to make and looked pretty darn good.

Sadly I wasn’t able to stay for the party as wedding preparations required me to be the other side of Sydney which was such a s shame. Julie’s sister Emmie and Mum Charmaine did an amazing job and setting the house up for the party. Everything was mini and utterly gorgeous!

Apologies for the picture quality – it was taken on my iphone as of course not one of the three cameras in the house was charged: S.

Can you feel the love?

Engagement shoots were something I had never heard of until very recently. Couples arrange for a photo session to capture their love and excitement of their recent engagement. I have seen some truly beautiful engagement shoots in my research for the wedding. Themed, elegant or incredibly simple allowing their love to shine through.

While Luke and I didn’t have a photographer ( rather a tripod ) we donned our Sunday bests and headed down to the beautiful Fagan Park Gardens to take some shots.

Below are a couple of these and a few of my favorites from various blogs.

Enjoy

Oh So Beautiful!

One thing I am really enjoying about planning our wedding is finding suppliers who I just HAVE to work with! (you know the ones) One I want to share with you today is our florist of choice - Ruby and Joy. I met with Nicola of Ruby and Joy earlier this year over tea with my mum. Before I even got back to the car I was raving to mum about how great I felt about working with her - and how I just knew she would do the most perfect job on our wedding flowers. A few emails back and forth and they are locked in. I can't tell you enough how excited I am! Check out their site and enjoy their beautiful works of art.

Nothing ever wasted

Morning, from another beautiful Sydney day

Two nights ago I attempted to make a healthy pumpkin soup. I succeeded however made waaaaay too much. So, last night I wanted to re use the soup as a base for a pasta sauce and created a tasty bacon and pumpkin sauce on penne. It got me thinking, what else can we re use to create a whole new meal? I am going to challenge myself over the next few weeks to make a little extra each night then re use it the next night for a whole new dish.

A busy day ahead as Luke and I finish some house chores before we head into the rocks for our weekly dose of the city.

Renovations!

Hi All

Well it has been a very long time since I last wrote a post and some changes have been made! First and most noticeably is that we have changed name. My location has changed as Luke and I bought our very own unit in Hornbsy! The most exciting change ( I think ) is that I am no longer Rosey - girlfriend of Luke but Rosey - fiance of Luke! He popped the question last November and we are busily making plans for our October 30 wedding.
So, with these changes bring new interests ( Saturday at Bunnings anyone? ) & hopefully new and exciting posts.

Stay tuned!
